Countdown to launch

Yep, getting stuff checked and prepping for launch out of here before it gets hot (unfortunately that means cold in Wyoming), oh well, I'm not going to work this summer so will just have to go fishing and enjoying life.

Those days are gone

Just a few short weeks ago fueled up at this station. Cheapest down here now is $2.19 for diesel now. Better than a year ago though I guess.

Beginning my checklist getting the 5er ready to travel north in a few days. We'll watch the weather and look for a couple of good days on or after May 10th.

Sutherlands headed north

Bob and Tib beginning their north bound flight (that's why they call us snowbirds). They're headed up towards Ogden for a few days then on to Pinedale later.

Sad to see them go, they're really good friends.

Pic below is Bob at the Helm of his mighty diesel pusher motor home

Another house

Checked this house out in Canyon Cove (St. George Ut) yesterday. Bob and Tib Sutherland still looking. This is a nice two bedroom, 2 bath, two car garage with a cool little back area that abuts next a cliff. $150,000. Debi and I are just not ready to buy anything yet. We have too many years of RVing left.

Re: Yesterday's Old faithful pic

Live and learn I guess. I posted that pic yesterday of Old Faithful (cam that updates every 30 seconds). I didn't get the geyser in it so I just left it. This morning I checked the pic and the background had changed. There was snow on the ground. When I posted the picture I failed to realize that the pic would update every 30 seconds. Soooooo, I deleted it. Wasn't a good pic anyhow. I assume that If I had left it posted that it would update through eternity.

This is a pic of Old faithful I took in September when Debi and I went through the park. It won't update and the picture cops won't be pursuing me.

2 1/2 weeks till we launch out of here. I'm anxious to get home and work on my boat and get some fishing in before the feds close all the lakes off and claim them as their own.

Hopefully this one is better

There we go, picture of gannet peak, Wyoming's highest!! Getting the hang of this posting thing

Hurricane Hill

The downhill portion of my walk this morning down Hurricane Hill. Wind was blowing a gale again. Cloudy and cooler too. Nice after the 90's.

Just wrote a bunch of letters opposing the expansion of wilderness area to ridiculous proportions in Sublette County, just not right for a few people to want to change areas to wilderness just because they THINK they can. Last time I checked multiple use was fair and everyone uses the land. (Ok Hank, stop before you jump on a soapbox).

Wind and more wind

Not sure a picture would do justice to the gusts outside up to 50 mph. The good news is that it's supposed to die down this evening.

Went to an interesting meeting (seminar thing) about reverse mortgages. Wow I had no idea that you could do stuff like that with and for your property etc. The fellow we talked to was an expert in the field and was cordial and answered all our questions. With the real estate market bottomed out now would be the time to look into something like that.

House hunting in Hurricane

Went with Bob and Tib Sutherland looking at a house with a Remax agent. Nice house in a nice neighborhood. Does need some work. Sutherlands are contemplating getting a house down this way. Lots of stuff to consider when buying.

Costco run

Got out of the heat into the cool confines of costco. Actually we had to pick some stuff up. This is supposed to be the last day in the 90's for a few days. Now I'll get home to Pinedale, it'll be snowing and I'll be in a full pitched whine about how cold it is....

Pine mountain

Pine mountain will soon shed it's winter snow. Temps in the high 80's today possibly 90's the next two days. Pine mountain is a bit north of St. George Ut. Not sure what it's altitude is??

Off to the movies shortly with the Sutherlands. We're going to see "Knowing"

More Zion park

This is yet another Zion park pic. Took this a couple weeks ago when we went on a ride up to Kolob terrace with the Sutherlands. I don't think I posted this one.

Darned near 90 here today, warmer tomorrow. Beautiful spring weather.

Another really nice house

Dang, picked the wrong numbers on the power ball lottery again. Anyhow, this is another of those nice houses we looked at a couple of nights ago. This house too, looks over St. George. Has lots of windows in it. You'd have to pick a lot of right numbers to afford this one.

Supposed to hit the low 90's here this week. Darn, will have to wear my shorts and enjoy the outdoors. We are getting anxious to get back to Wyoming though. We will pull out of here about May 14-15.

Million dollar + homes

Went out to dinner with Bob and Tib Sutherland last evening and afterwards we took a tour of the rich folks homes. This one sits on a bluff overlooking St. George. I'd guess it's worth a couple of million bucks. Going to have to come up with better lottery numbers than I've been selecting. I did win the lottery last week though, well sort of, I picked two numbers of the 6 including the power ball. I'll get a grand total of $4.00 If I did win the lottery I'm not sure what use I'd have with a 5,000 square foot home. Think I'd stay with something simpler (and waste the other millions on travel)

Wind is blowing

As you can see by my cool little American Flag wind sock. It's proned out today. Supposed to die down and be better tomorrow though I hope.

Washed the road grime off the truck this morning. Got into some road tar so had to spray some WD-40 on it then re-wash it.

Trip back south

Uneventful trip back to Hurricane Utah today. Saw some snow, wind, rain and every other kind of weather you can imagine. Took a couple of pics on the way. I've got to stop and eat at that Moondance diner in Labarge Wy. For my out of Sublette County friends, it's a diner that was in New York city N.Y. for many years. They were going to tear it down till some folks from Labarge loaded the diner on a truck and transported it across the country to LaBarge Wyoming. Just opened a couple of months ago I guess.

The other pic, when you get to Cedar city Ut. you're getting close. Long day!!

Recent rock trip

Well I went another day without taking a pic so will use a recent rock hunt pic of Sally and Debi. Got my mom to the Dr in Jackson and he prescribed here some antibiotics for an ear infection (that's caused the hearing loss). Life is good for her again. Snowed hard on the way to Jackson and is supposed to be a bit dicy tomorrow when we travel back to St. George Utah area.

Another quilt picture

Another boring quilt picture. I was so busy running errands in Pinedale that I didn't stop to take a pic. Got to take my mom to Jackson to the Dr. tomorrow so will probably will get a pic on the way. Good to see friends and family. We'll be home in about a month anyhow but Pinedale will always be our home.

This is another quilt picture from the other day when we went with Sutherlands to the quilt show in St. George. They passed out little cloth gloves in case you wanted to touch one of the quilts. One quilt even had a sign that you couldn't take a picture of it. I think I got a picture of that one before I saw the sign. Hope they don't sent the quilt cops after me.

Long day of travel

Arrived in Pinedale about 3:45. 503 miles.... Think I'll cave in for the night.

Quilts

They had a big quilt show at the "Dixie center" in St. George Ut today, we went with the Sutherlands and I shot a couple of pics of some really neat quilts. The top one has 88,000 pieces of fabric all hand stitched and hand quilted. Took the artist 18 months to complete it. Talk about patience.

Rainy here today, got the truck loaded and ready to head north early in the morning. Not sure If I'll take the computer with me so may or not post for a couple of days.

A very "dapper" Bob

Attended an outdoor art fair today with the Sutherlands in downtown St. George Ut. Some really pretty (and pricey) art. Bob was kind enough to pose with the hat. I think the pricetag on the hat was $185.00 Another hat there was about $200. made partially out of a diamondback rattlesnake. Temp was just right and a bit cloudy. Really nice fun day.
