Chevy Volt

Interesting car, it's one of those electric and gas cars, you're supposed to get some kind of a government tax break as it helps with the Global warming hoax. Most of these cars had a "global warming" rating on the sticker. Hmmmm, think Algore is still making money off of his "science".

$874,000.00 for this baby

A shiny new Rolls Royce convertable, only 874 thousand dollars, I wouldn't own one of the damned things if I won the lottery. The inside lights at the car show made it difficult to get a good picture of a car there. We were on the trax train going downtown when some wino fell out of his seat and busted his head open, they had to stop the trax train and call fire rescue on the poor guy. We helped the guy up and put a t-shirt on the horrible head wound that he sustained.

Tent city

This is a terrible picture (couldn't get the reflections out) of the entry door in tent city. Pictured are soldiers enduring the 140 degree temps in Iraq, Sheriff Joe thinks that if it's good enough for our soldiers then 120 degree temps can't hurt our local crooks (the crooks don't have to wear kevlar and flack jackets.

Cirque of the towers area

Took this pic of the cirque of the towers north and east of Wolf lake near Pinedale Wyo. I think those boulders in the foreground are the result of a glacier going through the area millions of years ago, melting and depositing those monsters. Pretty country!! All's well here in mid Arizona, supposed to be a huge car show at the Phoenix convention center, we may wander down that way and try to see some autos!

Tent city

Had a great tour of "tent city" jail in Phoenix. Sheriff Joe Arpaio runs a tight ship. I've yet to hear anyone (except news media) say anything bad about Sheriff Joe. Nice warm day here (in the sun), a bit cool in the shade. Now we prepare for tomorrows big Thanksgiving feast at the RV park.

Mesa

From the superstition mountains looking southwest towards Mesa. Here, one minute you're in the middle of the city and a few minutes later you're here, looking down on the city. "Vot a country"!!

Wed. hike

Last Wed. hike north of Apache junction Az. We walked about 2 hours that day. Off to see Sheriff Joes' "tent city" on this coming Wed. It's downtown Phoenix somewhere, we're going with our neighbors. Should be fun!!

Meridian road

That long street in the center of the picture is Meridian road. It divides Apache junction (on the left) and Mesa Arizona (on the right). Our vehicles are parked on this end of the road and our RV park is at the far end of the road (almost out of sight). There, don't you feel better that you have received your map reading lesson for the day..

Hike in the superstitions

Yesterday's destination on our weekly hike. I think this is called "Pass" mountain. Was a super nice day up there, about 65 degrees. Supposed to be near 80 today.

Chimney Butte

Taken a few days before we left Pinedale. Nice fall colors on Chimney butte (25 miles S.E. of Pinedale). I hunted elk with a camera this year. Didn't see any to photographe this year

Cactus country

After droning on about saguaro cacti yesterday I forgot to post a picture of one. Here's one that thinks it's a goalpost...

1st Saguaro cactus

Just out of Wikiep Az. one begins to see the first saguaro cactus. The saguaros grow in just a small area of the desert southwest and can't grow above 3500 ft. Wikiep is about 90 miles north of Phoenix and is a "square spot" in the road...

All elevens. That won't happen again for at least three zillion years. Anyhow, happy veteran's day to all who have served (or are serving)

1st hike of the season

Rv park folks get together every Wed. morning for a hike to a different place, this a.m. we went on a short hike just west of the superstition mountains. Some of the folks who have eaten a few too many donuts struggled a bit. Was a bit cool in the shade, not Wyoming cool though..

Sunset

Took this from atop the 5th wheel last evening. Got the A/C on again this afternoon, supposed to be in the 70's later this week though. Off to the dentist in the morning. Lots of competition for the out of state dollar here, lots of "deals" on dental work.

Superstition mountains off in the distance (looking east) from our RV park in Apache junction Az.

Friday, November 5, 2010

I snagged this off the internet, search area near Gannet peak where the single engine airplane went down a week or so ago. In the summertime it would be a tough search let alone late fall. I believe the peak in the center is "turret" peak.

Ouch!!!!

This guy moved in next to us Monday. This is a brand new probably $300,000. rig, the guy turned into a concrete island and didn't see it. Tore half of the drivers side off near the rear dual axels. My unprofessional guesstimate would be about $15,000.-$20,000. damage??? Glad it was he and not me!!
