Snow bird

Lots of snow birds down here heading for their winter nesting places. Spotted this guy ahead of us just out of Casa Grande Az. on one of our day adventure trips. Some adventure, I only took one photo. Got to get my game face on I guess....

Coming home from a search

This is about 12 years old (pic). I was coming off the mountain from Raid lake area near Scab creek. Didn't look too bad for not having slept for 24 hours or so. Nowadays, my phone doesn't ring at night. Life is good!!

Spent Thanksgiving with friends here at the RV park and helped Win Farnsworth prepare a surprise birthday party for his wife. Their families all flew in to celebrate Bebe's 60th. She totally had the deer in the headlights look when she saw her family there. Big Big Surprise.

Fort Ruland

We have a pretty nice RV spot here in Apache Junction Az. It's nice because it's so wide...can park the truck next to the 5er instead of trying to wedge it in by the door.

Hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving day.

Espenscheid ranch near Big Piney

Took a photo course with two of the Pape sisters (Gina and Sally), this was one of the houses on the property . Learned a lot about photography on that June day 2009.

Another great day in Paradise (the sunny south). Getting stuff ready for the RV park's Thanksgiving dinner.

Brew Pub Sign

Anyone who has dined at the brew pub in Pinedale has probably noticed this sign.

Nice day here in the Sunny South again today. This is day #78 with NO rain... May have to go to Texas next year just to get water

Why I go south

Had to post this as a grim reminder why we go south in the winter. Supposed to hit 80 on Thanksgiving day here. They are really in need of some rain, none in the 7 day forecast. Last year we had quite a bit of rain here in Az.

Fountain Hills, Payson, Roosevelt lake etc

Took a day trip with the Farnsworths up to Fountain hills (the picture of the fountain), stopped and donated a few bucks to the local Indian casino, then on to Payson Az for lunch then Roosevelt lake. After that we headed down the mountain from Globe Az back to Apache junction. Beautiful warm late fall day. Was in the low 60's up around Payson and high 70's here in Apache junction. Great day

Arizona Opry

Can't get enough of that Arizona Opry and their fantastic music. Here a couple of the musicians are playing those horns that they play in the Alps (the theme to the olympics). They have a Christmas show upcoming then after the new year a different type of show. One of the musicians sounds more like John Denver (whom I never cared much about) that John Denver himself did.

Someone had a last minute cancellation at the Dentist office yesterday so they fitted me in to get my last hour of torture done. I am the proud owner of two new crowns and a distinct lowering in my bank account. Life goes on...

FIRE!!!!!

As the NASCAR race was on we noticed off to the east that there was a huge amount of smoke eminating from a neighborhood in Avondale Az where the racetrack is. Saw on the news that night that a fire started in a garage and moved to the house destroying it. They showed news footage of the blaze, it took that house down in just a few minutes...Yikes!!

Uh oh

This poor bloke didn't so so good Sunday, anytime you come in on the back of a wrecker isn't a good day. Saw Pinedale's web cam this morning and it looked bright and sunny. It's bright and sunny here and about 77 degrees. It doesn't get any better than this!!

The picture of the #2 Car below was Debi's pick for the day, it ran in first place for a while but alas Jimmy Johnson and the "Lowes" car won it. Debi's car placed 6th. Oh the sound was deafening, I didn't know it but one needs earplugs to be near the track....yikes

Phoenix International Raceway

Wow, what an experience attending the NASCAR race yesterday with Win and Bebe Farnsworth, a huge crowd of fans to the tune of about 140,000 folks (I don't like crowds), there were the usual wrecks, etc. Win's son knew a person who knew a person who could get us in... We were a guest of Coors light... I knew I'd finally get paid back from my drinking days years ago, I believe with my past shenanigans I probably paid for that nice motorhome...I've been dry for over 29 years now...

More Veteran's day parade

For the lack of not taking a picture yesterday, here's another from Veteran's day parade in Apache Junction. I never saw so many Harley Davidson's in my life.

Red flowering bushes

Someone told me last year what those red flowering bushes were but I forgot. If it weren't for the power box and overhead power lines this might have been a fair picture. This is just outside the gate of our RV park. Camera didn't do much justice to the red in the bushes either.

Off to the dentist today, I'll be relieved when that is over. Anyone who had dental work done in the 50's and 60' undoubtedly have lots of silver in their mouth's (I do), that stuff lasts about 40 years then begins to detriorate from constant expansion and contraction...I have two crowns to look forward in the next few days and probably many more in the future.

Join me in a refrain of "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth".....

Veteran's day parade

This is just a test video to see if I get it posted properly. It's a flyover of a couple of F-16's....they were awfully high so didn't come out that good.

Almost ripe

Not sure the camera lens does justice to these fine grapefruits, they're super green. Not just sure when they turn yellow so you can eat them?

Big Veteran's day parade here today, supposed to be about 88 degrees so I best wear a hat. These folks really honor their vets down here (and so does Pinedale).

We were supposed to go to the Arizona Opry tonight with Win and Be be Farnsworth, they had to fly back to Riverton to attend Jim Nethercott's funeral so left the tickets with me. We've invited some friends here at the RV park to go with us using the Farnsworth's tickets. Hopefully I'll get some good indoor shots with the new canon sure-shot.

Island lake

Took this pic of island lake with some of the local peaks in the background (the one of far left is elephanthead peak I believe), must have been on one of our search and rescue operations about 1998..

Record breaking heat here again today, but by thursday it should be back into the tolerable range.
