Wow what a winter this one was, This must have been winter of 1972 or 1973?? That is my dad's old 1959 Ford buried there under the snow. My dad and mom owned the house then Debi and I bought it from my mom. It's on East A street in Pinedale.

Nice neighborhood

Stopped by near here Saturday when we were "yardsaling" with the Sutherlands. Kind of a cool shot of the Pine mountain area west of St. George Ut. Woah, the wind died down this morning, it was rocking and rolling our home during the night hours. Supposed to start up again later today.

Another interesting rock formation

From the valley of fire trip the other day, lots of interesting rock patterns. The famous southern Utah wind is supposed to blow today, got my anchor out!! Wow, hard to believe how fast this winter went, be back in Pinedale two weeks from today (God willing). Starting my little check list of stuff to do before we launch. Never hurts to roll up the power cord and sewer hose, get so many nasty looks from patrolmen when you're dragging that stuff down the highway.

Chimney butte area southeast of Boulder

Took this pic one afternoon as I was leaving the area from a day of elk hunting. The fall leaves were gorgeous that year 1989 or 1990?? This is east of Richies ranch Boulder, Chimey butte area.

Warm and windy here today, supposed to rain tomorrow and drop from the high 80's to the high 60's. It's springtime in the Rockies!!

Gannett!!!!!!

Hurricane Utah sunset

Took this pic last fall down in this area. Desert southwest is know for it's pretty sunsets. Gouty toe is much better after taking some harsh anti-inflamatory drugs. Jeez, glad I don't have to take those things all the time or I would be sick. I'll be back on my normal walking schedule soon I hope.

Another Army buddy found me on facebook

The fellow in the upper right hand corner sitting (with black glasses on) is Terry Williams from Rhode island or somewhere like that. He reminded me that one night while in Korea, during my drinking days, some guy tried to hassle or rob us. The guy was riding a motor scooter and apparently I jumped on him and bulldogged him to the ground. The guy ran off into the night and for a few moments I was the local hero. Damn, I'm glad I quit drinking in 1980!

No pics here today so I'll post one from last summer taken from the Willow lake road north of Pinedale. This was August and the snow was nearly gone. I understand that the snow-pack will be a bit short this year with the mild winter in Wyoming. Swollen foot from gout has kept me benched most of the day, hopefully it will be better tomorrow. Gout sucks!!

Summer's coming

The one thing I miss living winters in the desert southwest is that the fishing isn't that great. My native Wyoming has the best fishing on earth....period... although, Corpus Christi Texas and Rockport Texas with access to the gulf of Mexico runs a distant second. How time does fly, son Tim and soon to be daughter in law Myndi will get married in Vegas next month then we'll head north to Pinedale right after that. Now if I can get rid of this pesky damned "gouty" toe, life will be happy!!

Sutherland's roses

I love roses and the smell of them (except they remind me of funerals), that aside, these are really pretty ones. Had lunch with Bob and Tib Sutherland at Olive garden, no wonder I gained so much weight this winter eating like that, 1100 calories (roughly) in soup, salad and breadsticks......

This is on a rose bush in Sutherlands yard. Lots of these around this area this time of year.

Not another Las Vegas picture

3 miles from our exit to N bound I-15, most of the construction done there. Last year we had to snake our way through side streets in a seedy part of town to get to I-15....Went to a movie with the Schmidts and the Sutherlands (Clash of the Titans), pretty good flick. Then dinner at Sutherlands new house. Everybody has a house, boo hoo... poor me, I'm just trailer trash!! (and love every second of it)..

Arrival is a good thing

Always good to get unhooked and settled in. This will be a fast month coming up, lots of things going on before we head north!

Woah, rain and 44 degrees here this Monday afternoon.

Sin city

Uneventful trip through Las Vegas today, more south wind ahead of a storm due in tomorrow. Got to Hurricane Utah about 1:00, I still need some training on backing the 36' 5th wheel into the RV pads.

Big Sandy Valley

Between Wickenberg and Kingman Arizona. The sign is really hard to read but this area goes back quite a ways in history.

First leg of jouney from Apache junction to Kingman went without a hitch, still a few idiot drivers around though, south wind pushed us most of the way and it looks like the same thing tomorrow. I'm getting 11.5 mpg towing the fifth wheel. Could be worse. Off to Vegas and Hurricane Utah tomorrow!!

Another fine "bush"

If I keep coming to Arizona long enough I may learn the names of these things. This one is yellow and that's about all I know. Finished up launch preparations for tomorrow. Traffic should be light leaving Phoenix on a Saturday morning. Almost 90 here today, the evenings are really nice after the sun goes down. It'll be cooler in the norther climes of Hurricane Utah...

One of many for sale

Some cool cactus in front of this "for sale" home. This is about two miles from our RV park. Not sure if the cacti are those 100 year ones that live till they're roughly 100 years old then "keel over"???? And I'm still looking for a road runner to take a picture of, no luck yet this year...

Our friends from New Hampshire

Had lunch with Cal and Connie today, they're really nice folks. Connie worked at Dartmouth college in Providence Ri. for over 20 years and helped develope their computer system. Cal was some kind of an engineer. They travel around in a 36' Motorhome. Back and forth from New Hampshire to Apache junction every year. We looked at some houses today, they're getting on in years and are thinking about buying a house.

Wind in Hurricane Utah

Oh it's so windy in Hurricane Utah this time of year. Took this photo last year (my old deceased Dodge pickup), Wind blew here yesterday but nothing like in southern Utah. Some of our friends felt the earthquake from Mexicala Mexico a couple days ago. They were in their motorhomes and the things began to sway a bit. We didn't feel it, we were outside on a concrete slab.

Cacti on the bloom

On my walking route in the mornings. I noticed that the wildflowers are just starting to bloom also. We're headed up to Saguaro lake tomorrow and may get some pics of the flowers?? Warm and windy here today, I see that Pinedale is getting a storm (looks like they need it).

An area around Gold Canyon Az. Hmmm, be glad to get to another area to get some fresh pics. don't want to bore friends and family with too many of these. Plan on heading out Saturday, some of these folks stay till late May in this RV park, should be hitting the 100's by then....No thank you. Back on weight management again, got to get rid of the life of ease and good food down here, Last saturday I was 209, today I weighed in at 201, hope to be back in the high 180's by early summer..

Pretty power lines

Now here's an example of a horrid picture that could be ok if it weren't for the power lines. Sunrise this morning looking east from our RV park. Back to the drawing board..

Silver springs Florida

Debi, Sandra and Gil (Bob Sutherland's sister from "New Yawk" and brother in law), and of course Tib and Bob Sutherland. This was about January of 2006. Had a great day on a boat ride on a river and saw some Manitees.

Went to the movie "shutter island" today. It was WAY over my head. Scorsaze did a much better job on "Titanic". Jeez, suddenly, I'm a movie critic. I wouldn't pay 50 cents to see Shutter island again. It rained today, about 10 drops in the whole phoenix area.

Different angle of the Superstition mtns.

Kind of a different spot to photograph the superstition mountains. Shooting towards the sun in the mornings doesn't make for a very good background. Down to our last couple of weeks here in Az. for the winter. Headed north soon!! Well, not "north-north" just to Hurricane Utah.
