ASU (Arizona State University) campus area

Very big building near the campus of Arizona State University in Tempe Arizona. Debi and I drove down in that area and checked out a big community park where a jewish festival was going on. Nice warm Sunday and saw part of the Phoenix metroplex that we hadn't visited before.

Moon and a contrail

Big old bright moon with a jet contrail by it. Kind of different. Found out that the murder case I worked many years ago ended in a finding of 1st degree murder today. Not something you jump up and down and relish but you do think of the soul of Lisa Ehlers and the closure for the family. It's justice....just a bit late.

More of the neighbor"hood"

Another pic of "the hood", nice today, off to Costco and Tempe tomorrow. Haven't taken many pics lately, that should change soon as I've got a couple hiking trips lined up and a trip down to Tucson to see my friend Mike Mahar in February.

Oh that looks cold

Took a couple of really quick photos from overlook Fremont lake Wed. morning. Actually the cold didn't bother me like I thought it would. Stopped in and visited with Gina Pape for a few minutes, good to see old friends...even for a few minutes.. Back to the low 60's here, that trip and those long hours really kicked me in the pants....I'm all rested and refreshed today.... I'll sink down in my chair and watch the two football games!!

Kind of a cool looking sagauro (sp)

Got home safetly from Wyoming and two days of testifying. Plane left Salt lake city for Phoenix and was supposed to arrive at 6:45. Mother nature had other ideas. Had to go back to Salt lake city, get on a later flight then head back. Finally landed about midnight after the rain and winds had died down. Wow, talk about heavy rain and flooding, just heard on the radio here locally that some little 6 year old kid got swept away by the flood waters and is presumed dead. Was good to see friends and family for a short time, but there's no place like home, wherever it's parked!!

Long day

The horrid storms that were predicted didn't develope. Had an uneventful flight from Phoenix to Salt Lake City to Jackson. Woah, try driving on icy roads when you haven't done it for a while!! Yikes...

Armadillo

Dug out my old Toshiba and it's full of photos from trips to Texas and Florida. Took this guy's pic a couple years ago near Rockport Texas. We keep threatening to go back there but ohhhhhhh the humidity.

Canyon above New fork lake (Pinedale Wy)

Met up with Brad and Sandy Bousman yesterday, went over to Lary Lozier's place and we all had a nice visit until I found out that I'd locked my keys in my truck. Lary was kind enough to drive me back to our trailer to get our other keys (I made him late for an appointment). Other than that we had a great visit and a great day... Brad and Sandy are down for a few days on a "shake down" run for their new 5th wheel. Looks like they kinda like this RVing stuff.

Kendall Warm springs

Took this picture of Kendall warm springs last fall on a cool early morning. Was hoping to see a "griz" but none around. And NO I didn't tie a porkchop around my neck to see if one would get close. Looks like the nice warm weather down here is about to change. They're predicting 5" to 10" of rain next week. Should be an interesting trip to Wyoming in that soggy mess. Wish me luck..

The road to Quartzsite

We're not going to go to Quartzsite this year. With the upcoming trip to Pinedale etc. couldn't squeeze it in. This is a mountain between Phoenix and Quartzsite. Met up with our cousins and had a great lunch together. Hit 70 here today, life is good!!

Civil war memorial

I was testing an old CD with pictures on it to see if I could blog a pic directly from the disc. Well if you see it....... it worked

Snagged this pic off the internet. Some quiet desert spot with a moon rising. Off to meet up with my cousin Carol Malott from Colorado Springs Co. She and her hubby Hank come down to Az every winter for a month or so. We always get together and talk old times and family over. We're going to meet up in Scottsdale at an Olive Garden, God willing.... Got my itinerary and plane tickets to go to Pinedale next week. Hope the weather holds....

Unusual picture

Kind of an unusual picture, sun hadn't quite hit the saguaro cactus and you can see Mesa and Phoenix off in the distance.

Was trying to capture the first light to hit those rocks below the other day. That's part of Apache Junction Az off in the distance. Went to a country western band last evening at the local high school. These guys were really good, they mostly performed older artists such as Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn etc. It was listed as a 90 minute performance but lasted almost 3 hours. Was a great evening with friends.

Beanbag

For entertainment on Sundays some of the "inmates" here at the RV park play "beanbag". Such a streneous sport. You toss a beanbag in a hole on a board and if you get it in a hole that says 1. then you run (walk) 1 base....if you hit 2...2 bases middle gets you a homerun and you have to run around all the bases (about 40' apart) some of these folks need oxygen on the last streach (kidding of course)... Was about 70 degrees and no wind. Nice..

Home sweet home

No new pics today, here's home... Went to the chiropractor yesterday (after getting jacked around by some Docs down here). Getting some relief on my shoulder problem. Went from hurting all the time to just once in a while now. I know...I know...lots of people don't believe in chiropractic practices but I have had some luck with them over the years. There's more to life than a syringe full of goodies!!

South end of the Superstitions

Took this the other day from the south end of the Superstition mountains near Gold Canyon Az. Rugged ole hills up there.

Got my subpoena and will head out to Pinedale on Jan.20th. I'll be up to testify in the homicide trial on the 21st then fly back into Phoenix the 22nd. Will probably be barely able to say hi to friends and family... I shudder to think of the cold

Mean fiddle

Wow, this guy played a "mean" fiddle. One of the Arizona Opry talents.

Went to camping world today to get a new "rug" for the concrete pad outside our RV. Took back a "stabilizer" that really didn't work. Guess we all need a little instability in our lives..
