Poppies

These flowers come up every year in our (Tim and Myndi's) yard. I'm told they're poppies. They bloom for a couple of days each year and that's it...Not a lot unlike some folks I've dealt with over the years..

They say every picture should tell a story.... I'm not getting a lot of conversation out of this one..

Tim's dog

Couldn't resist posting this video of Tim Ruland's dog chasing a sprinkler... Might take a while to load with a slower connection...

Photo from Big Piney area

Debi and I enjoyed a trip to Big Piney and a ranch west of there to attend a basic photography class. Rode down with Sally Hayward and her sis Gina. Boy we had a good time. I learned more about photography in that 3 hours than I ever learned anywhere else. Great weather and a great day.....

Got Debi a new digital camera and she took lots of photos. She's vowed to help me with this blog. Ok Debi, turn Judge Judy off and grab up your camera!!

Uh oh...another old mountain picture

This was on a search near Silver lake some years ago. That bunch of clouds ahead is a nasty October storm. Jim McLellan doesn't like to fly through those, and I don't like to ride through them.

Another day another fish

Fished Fremont lake today, only caught one. 4 pounds and 20" long. He'll be dinner for my mother in law and grand-son this evening.

Ok...no more deceased fish for a while (unless I get a good one)

Walk into silver lake

Several years ago Henry Schmidt, Bardy Bardin and I walked in to silver lake to do some fishing and get out of the office. Here the (now sheriff) poses near Silver lake. And yep, we caught some fish...

Great to see the sun out today, can't remember too many wet years like this (this late)..

Fog on Mt. Aerie

Never could figure out why they called Mt. Aerie a mountain, it's only about 7,500 ft elevation. Anyhow, it was kind of pretty this morning with some fog on top and the morning sun hitting it (I must be desperate for new pictures). And we have a lovely subdivision in the background.

Ended up visiting with Gina Pape yesterday afternoon and got some tips on developing some writings. Gina is a very good writer and has a book out to prove it. Debi and I went to her house and got some really good tips on developing, saving etc. My new winter project will be writing "memoirs of a small town sheriff". Now if I actually do it will be something else, I'm sure Gina will prod me along....

An old army buddy located me through Pinedale online. Was good to hear from him, we served together in Korea 1970-1971. He's taking a road trip and may end up here for a long awaited visit. Haven't seen him since I left Kimpo airbase in Seoule Korea in April of "71". A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then.

Yard sale

Debi's mother was kind enough to let us do a yard sale in her yard. Pictured are (L to R)Myndi Franklin (my son's soon to be bride), Debi, her mom Roberta and my daughter Shelly...

Yard sales are a lot of lifting and work but we muddled through this one ok. Also got to see some old friends and visit with them.

The good...the bad...the ugly...

Woah, came across this old picture when I had hair and was on the Pinedale Police Department. The chief then was Win Farnsworth (far left) then Earnest Scott then Dave Yates (he was here about a year) and yours truly.... This picture must have been about 1978 or 1979?????

Got stuff ready for a big yard sale in the morning at my mother in law's house on south Shanley in Pinedale (that's called a "plug") lots of good stuff to sell.... I did a "sun" dance hoping for sunny weather (hope I didn't get those two dances mixed up)...

Elephant head

Several years ago we were searching for a lost soul in the Island lake area in the wind river range. Got a pretty good picture of elephant head peak (the one in the center) from the airplane that I was in. I don't miss putting in those long hours bud do kind of miss flying around up in those beautiful mountains.

Worked on water softner today, put in about 4 hours of dismantling the darned thing and it didn't work any better when I got done than when I started.... some days you get the bear.....some days the bear gets you...

Some assembly required

The three scariest words there is!! "some assembly required", thanks to Debi's brilliant mind I was able to piece this bimini top together. After I get it on the boat I'll get a "finished" picture. That could be tomorrow or a month from now. hey, I'm retired, I can do it when I want!!

Hey, how bout no rain today, and there's this big shiny disc in the sky, someone told me it was the sun...????? Memory is the first thing to go I guess. LOL

Trolling motor mounted

Finally got the trolling motor mounted and am getting ready to replace some carpet (as you can see in the pic, there is none in places). Sooo, all I need is a couple of dry days so the glue can dry and I'll be in business. At the rate the storms are rolling in, I figure I can just get the carpet in the boat before the autumn snows.

Wolf Lake

One of my favorite spots in the world. Wolf lake with Raid peak (on the left) and Mount Geicke on the right. Haunting beautiful country up there. Should be able to trek in to that area in 2 weeks or so. Should have a bumper crop of mosquitos up there this year with all the moisture we've had.

Clear sky

For my Wyoming friends who haven't seen blue sky in a while, I saved a picture back just for this day from our winter in Arizona. You don't get much "clearer" than this photo taken somewhere near Apache Junction Az.

The Cole family asked me to read the Eulogy at their mom's "remembrance" service today. One really feels honored that these folks would ask me to do that duty. Nice family, Ellen Cole was Tib Sutherland's mom. As you've seen, the Sutherlands are on our blog a lot because we travel together so much...

Between rain storms

Jeez, Fremont lake was calm and nice this evening. Sun was actually shining and saw the mountains for the first time in about 10 days. Life is good!!

Fog in the basin

Don't know how many times I've gone to Jackson and saw the fog in the basin and wished I had my camera. Well today I had it.

Lots of humidity in the air I guess. This is taken near the top of the rim on Hwy 191 (for our out of town friends and bloggers)

Boulder camp

Our friends the Sutherlands are parked at Boulder this year. Nice big roomy sites... Beautiful view of the southern Winds...

Had dinner with them then went out to see their "digs". Bob's working for the Sheriff's office this summer on forest patrol.

Off To Jackson in the A.M. taking my mom up to get her new hearing aid "tweeked". The new hearing device has really worked good for her.

Drive through the campgrounds

Picked Debi's mom up and drove up through the campgrounds. Not many hearty campers out today. Getting our yearly dose of snow before it warms up I guess. Kind of hard to see the grouse in the top pic. took his pic just as he was entering the shadow.
