My neighbor's pump setup

I'm sure everyone is interested in how to set up a pump. Well I am, I've got mine cobbled together and it barely works. My neighbor though, has a pretty snazzy setup (this time of year before the water table rises, you can suck a well dry and that's not good for your pump). There, now you can promptly ignore this and I'll be happy because I posted something.

G'day!!

Dog in law

Our soon to be daughter in law's pomeranian. She's a nice little dog. She has a death grip on that squeaky toy.

Out fishing today with the grandson, no fish....

Rock hunting on the mesa

Went out and looked for some agates yesterday, this is kind of a cool pic of Pinedale from the mesa. Also brought in a couple of ticks. The little blood suckers didn't have time to stick their nasty little mouths into us though. Those things give me the "creeps"..

Off to Jackson today to get my mom's hearing aid fitted. I too have an appointment with the Ear nose and throat specialist. I've had re-curring sinus infections for years and am tired of taking antibiotics 3 or 4 times a year to get rid of the little critters. I'm very leery of surgeries and know that sinus surgery doesn't always help much. Sooooo, I'll have a long heart to heart with the good Dr. and try to figure out what is the best course of action. Maybe I need to sidle up to a garden hose and get a good backflush through the old nose and mouth....... get a picture of that in your mind....LOL

Chambers bay

Was too busy yesterday to take a pic so here's one from last week of Chambers bay on Fremont lake (for our out of town viewers it's just 4 miles north and east of the town of Pinedale Wy)

Began the long ardous task of cleaning out my mom's house in town, age has taken it's toll on the old place. It actually belongs to my mom's step kids from a marriage after my dad died. She has lifetime tenancy but now lives in the retirement center. She's kept it and enjoys going over to the house and sitting in the beautiful yard. We have about 5 or 6 more loads to take to the dump (for the politically correct.....that's the sanitary landfill).....Today is a "relax" day and maybe go out and look for an agate on the desert...

We remember

I returned from my overseas duty (Korea) during the Viet Nam conflict and was stricken by all the hate towards my fellow soldiers and me. They even told us not to wear our uniforms in the airport to go home because of the demonstrators who thought it cute to come up to uniformed soldiers and call them "baby killers", I've long forgiven those folks who've done that but the memory is still a bit bitter. That's one of the reasons I proudly put on my Veterans of foreign wars cap each year and help put on the memorial service at the cemetary. So today....if you see a soldier who has served....give em a hug and thank them for their service. After all, if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be posting this right now.

God bless America!!

Bimini top

This is a pic of the box that the new Bimini top comes in. I'm sure there's that dreaded phrase "some assembly required".

If it doesn't rain, I may try to install it on the boat today, hopefully by fall when it's time to go south again, I'll have everything installed on the boat.

The "bird"

Has anyone ever give you the bird?? Well we received this bird from the Sutherlands, this pic depicts the bird in all it's colorful glory. The below pic is the same bird but in an ominous pose with the shadow.

Hmmm, you'd think I had better things to do that sit around discussing my bird that sits atop the scanner. It's a reminder to go south in the winter and enjoy the warmth I guess??

Put the boat in the water yesterday and mounted the trolling motor.... All systems go!! Even fished for a bit, saw some fish on the fishfinder but they weren't interested in my lure.

More boat stuff

The best laid plans of men sometimes get sidetracked. Had a couple of "hiccups" on the boat motor....fixed....picture of the new electric trolling motor (with foot controls) ready to mount in the morning....Got the stickers on the boat to make it legal...... All the other stuff I've had to do in between is what's dragging me down. Tommorow is finish boat day (well close).

Got the relatives to the respective Dr. appts. in Jackson today, All are healthy!

Big and little Soda lakes

First run of the season up towards elkheart park. Still some snow in the "S" curves. That should be gone soon if this nice weather holds.

Had the boat in and out of the "boat mechanic's place". I think it's finally fixed. Got to take mother and mother in law to Jackson tomorrow for Dr. appts. Should be boating Thursday, got to pay my respects to Gordon Johnston and his family Wed.

Had to re-level

One side of the trailer was "atilt", doors kept opening when they shouldn't etc. Sooooo, re-set the trailer and put an extra block under each tire on one side. That helped, but... before I pulled out with the truck I forgot to put the wedge block in front of the wheel. sooooo, when I pulled forward with the truck to "unhitch" the trailer rolled forward and fell down (partially) on the back of the truck. Fortunately the front jacks caught it before the whole weight of the trailer came down. So I violated my own rule of safety by not putting the wedge block down. Won't do that again. No harm..no foul...no damage....Yikes, can't do that again..

That last post

I couldn't figure out how to post that url on the last post so you could click on it and it would show.

Guess you'll just have to cut and past it on the "URL" line... That's kind of like spoiling the punchline of a good joke I guess..

Now I know why they call it "Yellow"stone national park

Weapons training

In order to keep certified in the State of Wyoming, I have to muster up 20 hours of training every two years. Today I trained on the AR-15 Assault rifle with some of the deputies. Also in order to carry a concealed firearm as a retired law enforcement officer I have to qualify on my pistol . I hadn't fired a pistol in nearly 4 years and qualified with a score of 89%, it astonished me, thought I'd be way more rusty than that. All in all a good day, got to visit with some of my co workers from cop days. Good bunch of folks.

Now on to the serious stuff.... getting the boat ready to catch fish!!

Tomorrow's project

Bought this boat last year and really didn't get to use it because of some mechanical problems. Over the winter I got those fixed and now got to put some new carpeting inside then do some work on the outside. These are Before pictures..... Hopefully in a day or two I'll have some "After" pictures.

Lots of running around today, got my mom's house and lawn to care for this summer and lots of other projects. Hopefully it will be some work and lots of fishing, however, it usually doesn't work out like that.

Kolob terrace, Zion park

Not sure if I posted this pic or not from the trip to Kolob terrace near Hurricane Utah. Another one of the pretty sights driving down the road.

Still getting settled in, went for a "brisk" walk yesterday morning and felt the altitude a bit. Today did the same thing and was ok. Poor ole Debi has to acclimate slowly to the altitude and uses oxygen at night, she'll have to do that for about 6 weeks then she'll be acclimated. She had some horrible presctiption drug reaction several years ago that tore her lungs up a bit. She does better at the lower elevations.

Grandson ready for Spring Concert

Grandson Logan Nixon preparing to entertain the masses. Logan plays drums in the Pinedale Middle school. He's pretty darned good at it. Maybe he'll become a rock star (he's got to work on that smile though) The kids had their spring concert this evening.

Getting settled in for the summer. Glad to be out of those near 100 degree temps.

Wyoming bucking horse and bug splat

Always nice to see the welcome to Wyoming sign, not necessarily as good though through the bug splat on the windshield. Plus we were driving into the sun so think of this picture as "bug splat art".

Middle of Utah

Oh that's a long ole streach from St. George to Provo. The first sign of the higher Wasatch mountains in the pic. Was a nice traveling day, the trailer tires that come with these things are really cheap, the tread was beginning to separate on one of the tires so had them replaced in Beaver Utah before we had a disaster. Wow, they don't give these tires away....

Out of here early in the morning. Be home in time to wish all the mothers in the family a "happy one". And to all of you blogger mothers....Happy Mother's day!!

Operation central

My little desk area in the 5th wheel trailer. You would think something as small as a 5th wheel trailer wouldn't have room for such an area. Of course all the floorplans are different on 5th wheels but because I spend so much time on or about the computer I needed my little space. Works out perfectly.

Finished up my training on statement analysis. Day 2 was really interesting too.

91 degrees here now, we're going to split the trip home in to two days. We'll leave Saturday morning and spend the night at an RV park in Provo Ut. then press on Sunday and get home fairly early. Weather looks bearable in Pinedale, every year I threaten to come home later but every year it begins to heat up down here so northbound it is.....

Washington county Sheriff's office

Day 1 of training over. Had a Lieutenant from Sandy Utah Police department teach a course on "statement" analysis. Boy technology on those have come a long way. You learn to analyze statements from both victims and witnesses. Very interesting stuff.

I'm lined up for some training with Sublette County Sheriff's office in Pinedale when I get home next week. Then I'll have my hours in for my professional re-certification. Yahoo

Day 2 tomorrow.

93 degrees here today, doubt it will cool down much between now and October 1
