Spring elk
Looks like this cow elk had a bit of a rough winter. Took her photo about noon today near the "bend of the river" about 30 miles north of Pinedale. She never moved and was only about 45 yards away. They know when it's NOT hunting season I guess.
Do you spoze she had a calf nearby? A lot of them calve out there in Sprout's meadow.
