Pretty picture
Snagged this off the internet. Not sure where it's taken, that looks suspiciously like a saguaro cactus which is native to Central Arizona.

Future dog in law
My future daughter in law has this cute litttle pomeranian. The poochie and the rest of the family went to New Fork lake and Spring creek park yesterday and hauled a couple loads of firewood. We did 2 loads of wood in about 7 hours. Never saw so much wood flying through the air in my life.

Near Victor Idaho
Anyone who's taken the Victor Idaho route to Jackson has undoubtedly seen this old barn with "hops" or something growing on it. Enough to make me turn around and go photograph it. Good fun trip to Idaho, stayed next door to an Olive Garden. Can't resist that place.
Applied my plumbing skills (or the lack of them) and sorta kinda fixed the low pressure problem with the house water. I don't have a clue how I fixed it but it's much better.

Mt. Geicke
We were close enough to Mt. Geicke to almost touch it Tuesday on our jaunt up to Silver lake. I keep threatening to camp at Silver lake one night then climb it the next day. My friend Sheriff Bardy tells me it's an easy climb, looks like it would be easiest to climb it from the north side?? North is to the left of this pic. And the sun happened to be on the mountain when I clicked the shutter. This won't make "photo of the year"...
Debi and I are on an overnight trip to Pocatello and Idaho Falls, Id. We stopped at Costco yesterday and will hit Walmart this morning then head home. Meeting the Sutherlands and Henry Schmidt for dinner tonight at "The place".

The old whiskey creek cabin
Beautiful day trip into Silver and upper Silver lake areas 10.5 miles (ugh), This is the old whiskey creek cabin about half way between Wolf and Silver lakes. Nice day up there, got lots of pictures... Terrance Ford went with me. Fishing wasn't great!!
So sorry to hear about Lynn's passing. I didn't know her as well as some of the bloggers online but had visited with her several times over the years. I know she had a LOT of close friends in Pinedale. She will be missed!!

Uh oh...time to go to the woods again
Terrance Ford and I are going to "day trip" it into Silver lake tomorrow. Got to find some different hiking boots today, my feet sloshed around in my size 11 boots and rubbed a blister last time. From where we go in it should be about a 10 mile day..Film at 11..

Dead bat
How wierd, I was walking through the upper loop of Fremont lake campground and spotted this "deceased" (it's a cop thing) bat. Never saw anything like that up there before. Car must have hit him during the night or??? No vampires in the area either??? Go figure!!
Steam on the Green river
Another pic from the other day when I launched the canoe. It was cool enough at this particular spot that steam was rising off the river. I thought the camera would catch that...... but it was subtle....
Enjoyed visiting with Rollie and Judy Myer yesterday at Rendezvous point.

Sawteeth
Never get tired of looking at that particular angle of the sawtooth mountains near "The Place". Lovin this mini heat wave, gets me prepped for winter in the south .....

Cool at the warm springs
Headed up to Green river lakes yesterday and noted how cool it was. Kendall warms springs usually doesn't steam like this when it's warm. I went through a 30# bottle of propane in the trailer in 11 days (roughly 7 gallons). I hereby declare the end to global warming!

Green River
Pretty day up at Green River lakes. Put my canoe in and fished for a while. No luck. When I got back I talked to Bob Sutherland, he said when you paddle a canoe at the end of the stroke you turn the paddle paralell with the canoe, that way you only have to paddle on one side. I looked like a drunken sailor thrashing around up there, next time I'll do better.

Hank's plumbing service
Well it only took about half dozen trips to town to take back wrong parts and get the right ones. Alas, I got an iron filter plumbed into the existing water lines. We have iron in the water and this device is supposed to filter the iron out for about a year. Darned iron gets in your sinks and toilets etc. Watched some video on you tube and figured out how to "sweat" the fittings in. Had one fairly major leak that I quickly fixed. All in all didn't go too bad. Found out that if I HAVE to do some plumbing I can do it.... Life goes on!

Cloudy rainy Pine creek canyon
All the relatives have headed home. Been a hectic week helping out with a "mini" family reunion. Lots of clouds hanging in Pine creek canyon this afternoon. The parking lot at elkhart park was almost full and there was some snow in the high country. Search and Rescue are probably out saving lost souls...

My brother and his family are up visiting from South Dakota, went up to Wolf lake and fished today. Caught a few nice brookies. Wolf lake is at about the 9,500' level.

Fremont lake
Took my sister fishing on Fremont lake, no fish but had a nice cool (literally) boat ride to the inlet. Only a couple other boats out today. One guy was water skiing (bet he had a dry suit on).
We're gearing up for a big "mini" family reunion here Wed. evening. Brother Larry and his youngest son is coming up for a few days.

Mcdougal gap
Debi, my sister Rita and I drove over McDougal gap (north cottonwood area) and came out at Alpine. Had lunch and took a few pics. The thermometer in the truck said 46 degrees on top of McDougal gap at about noon. This picture is kind of a waterfall in that area, the light wasn't cooperating with the outcome of the photo...

Tail end of a squirrell
This is an experiment in cropping and trying to get wildlife in closer with my "cheap" Kodak digital camera....
On a more serious note, I don't use this blog for political purposes, it's meant for keeping family and friends entertained and informed. BUT, I've had about enough of the federal government trying to shove socialistic health care and trillions of dollars in debt down our throats. Also there's an e-mail address at the whitehouse where you can spy on your neighbors and report their activities to "big brother". This is madness, our veterans didn't die on the battlefields to promote socialism.... I signed a petition to let congress how I feel. The URL of the petition is: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/healthcaregov?e
I also e-mailed the address at the whitehouse and reported myself as a crazed right wing conservative that is against this craziness...I'll probably be visited by some thugs who will throw me in a political prison and feed me pablum...
There... that's my rant... I'll try to keep this stuff to a minimum, I see on the news that many many others are beginning to feel the same way. We aren't crazy...we're just Americans wanting to keep our freedoms

I could only dream of taking a picture like this one..

Not sure if this is going to post or you're just going to see a bunch of letters and numbers....Seems like Sally taught me to send photos to "paint" then post them.....

The rainbow connection
I posted the uncropped version of this on my facebook account. Picasa really has some cool useful features that help with the pictures. My son Tim should be out of the mountains today from his hike up Fremont peak. I'll beg, borrow or even steal some of his mountain pics from that trip and hopefully post them. Tim builds webpages as a business and is a really good photographer. Should be some really good pics.
This is of course, my sister Rita. Got this pic of her in front of a rainbow north of Cora. I stopped the car numerous times trying to get a picture of lightning flashes but was always a second or two late. I had a bunch of lovely blank pictures though that I got to discard.

Winter of 2007
Found some pictures from Rockport Texas on one of my fishing trips in the Gulf of Mexico. We caught a bunch of King Mackarels that day. I think it was December 06 or January 07.... We're talking about going back to Texas next year (2010), Rockport is a few miles out of Corpus Christi and still has the "small town" feeling. We both liked Rockport except for the humidity. Met lots of nice friends there..

Foxy the beggar
Our soon to be daughter in law's dog foxy. It's the beggingist darned dog I've ever seen....I guess Pomeranians are famous for that??
My sister Rita is trying to get to Wyoming today...late airplanes etc. She did make it to Jackson about 6:00, flying anymore is almost as fun as getting a root canal

Island lake and surrounding mtns
Took this a few years back on another of our search and rescue operations near Island lake. On the far left of the pic is Elephant head peak and I believe the center one is Faler peak??? That sure is rugged country. I can't remember the name of the person who disappeared here in about 1998 but I do remember that we put hundreds of man hours and search dog hours in trying to find the guy. We surmised he was fishing in island lake, tried to take a shortcut back to camp by jumping over a small stream near the inlet of island lake, slipped and fell into some caverns where the water hits the lake from the falls. We took some "cadaver" trained dogs back there in about 2001 and the dogs "hit" on that area. It is just too dark and nearly impossible to get back in the area where his body may be. Those cadaver dogs are fascinating to watch work. If the smell something you can bet that there's a body in the area. Good grief!! that's morbid...I need to post some "happy" pictures...LOL

Trail creek park search
A bunch of search and rescue members and me horsebacked into trail creek park about 12 years ago to try to find remains of a hiker that had perished in that area. Some lady found a skull and another person found the guy's pack. We never did find any more of him though. Sent the skull off to FBI lab for DNA testing but came back inconclusive. There was a huge boulder patch that we found the pack near, thought he may have ended up in that boulder pile but after an extensive search we never found him. His name was George Clock and he was last seen by some hunters the fall before we went up there. George always "challenged" the mountains late in the fall and got caught in an early autumn storm (the best we could figure). We worked that case for about 5 years....No one else has ever found any more body parts....That's Bardy Bardin on the left, yours' truly in the foreground and I can't remember who the rest of them were... There, you've had your little history of Sublette County lesson for the week....

Nice walking path
Tried out the new walking path on Hwy 191 west of Pinedale today, was nice. I'll bet it will get lots of use.

Theyyyyrrrreeee backkkkkkk
Wow, only 8 days till the first pre-season game of the year. Few things I enjoy in life more than a good NFL game. My beloved Broncos have struggled the last couple of years....This year...new coach, new QB.....Maybe.. And I like the Arizona Cardinals too (that pic is my mouse pad, no loyalty here huh??)
