Moon over the superstitions
Kinda hard to see but the moon is rising in the center of the pic over some of the Superstition mountains. This was day before yesterday when we went on our "metal detecting" excursion east of Gold Canyon and Apache junction.
Bunch of happy campers around here after yesterday's "memory course". Amazing what the brain can do when you train it a bit. Most of these folks are actually getting their boots on the right feet now (kidding). It was fun
We're off to Scottsdale today to meet up with my cousin from Colorado Springs. There's a Macaroni Grill up there, they have some really tasty lunches (I could skip a meal and it wouldn't hurt). Then we might try to find "Old town" Scottsdale and do some looking around. After my pickup has sucked a lot of money out of my wallet lately with tires, brakes, injectors, fuel pumps and the likes, we're taking it a bit easy for a while. Thank God fuel prices are down..... Uh oh... supposed to rain the next 4 or 5 days and get cooler. Poor me, may actually have to shut the door.

Some pretty country from yesterday
This is the same area we were in yesterday, we were probably about 4,000' elevation here, seems that the Saguaro cactus (like the one in the lower left hand corner of this pic) only grow in areas below 4,900' elevation..... Where the cabin was from yesterday's post there were no Saguaro's.......therefore my brilliant mind would conclude that we were above that elevation. And to think I struggled with High School math...
Volunteered to put on a "remembering names" course here today. It's a cassette program that I bought years ago to help me remember names and other stuff. Hope to make it fun and help some of my fellow "seniors" remember things a bit better.
Supposed to be nearly 80 here again today, I'm sure my friends in Pinedale love to be reminded that we have to run our air conditioning in the late afternoons. "Sucks to be me huh?"

East of Gold Canyon Az
Went metal detecting out east of Gold Canyon Az. today with some friends from Michigan. This is an old "woodcutters" cabin in that area. One of the guys found a quarter, I found some shell casings. Walked back in an old mine shaft, didn't have a flashlight so couldn't go back very far. Hit 82 degrees here today, we were up at about 5000' elevation at the cabin, much cooler up there. Found some interesting looking rocks too.
The old cabin was made out of grout with rocks fitted in to them. One of the guys said that someone was living in this cabin back in the 1980's and that the cabin had been in this area since the mid to late 1800's. Can't imagine living in this thing when the outside temperature is about 110 degrees.

San Antonio Riverwalk
took this picture of a building from the area around the San Antonio Riverwalk. Looks like the building is very thin but is actually much thicker. some kind of an illusion I guess. Love RVing to Texas, might go back there next year or 2010??? Not just sure yet..
Going up in the mountains tomorrow. Hopefully will have some fresh pictures. I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel on some of these.
Had a couple new tires put on the truck today, an oil change and found out the brake pads were nearly worn through (going down Parley's canyon too much pulling a heavy load). I saw the bill, gasped, and paid it...... If I drank alcohol this would be a good excuse to slug down a couple of double shots...Alas, I had tea.

No picture
Egads, no picture. Actually I'm downloading a bunch of stuff for a class I'm putting on Thursday (on the other computer). Can't get the pictures to identify themselves on this computer. So much time....... so much data.
Warm here again today, almost 80..Went to lunch with some friends we met last year from Nebraska. Good to see old "fellow travelers".

Search and rescue op 1999
This pic was shot out of Jim McLellan's airplane in about October of 1999. We were down by silver lake 30 miles or so Southeast of Pinedale trying to find a lost hunter. That nasty little snow squall ahead of us was of concern to me but not to Jim. Wasn't too long after this picture that the hunter(s) were found. Again, has nothing to do with RVing but the pic is kind of cool.
Getting my face paint on for the superbowl. Go Cardinals or maybe Steelers or?????
