Took this shot in the upper Hoback north of Pinedale on my last day of work. They had a search going on that day. I'm not sure if this is the helicopter that crashed in Jackson last week and killed one of the Teton County Search and rescue members? Those volunteer search and rescue people are a special lot, they literally risk their lives to help others. Nice day here in Apache Junction Az. We're going ATVing Tuesday, its supposed to be the coldest day of the year, planning is everything.
Checked another one off my bucket list this morning. Always wanted to ride in a hot air balloon. Was fascinating watching them set it up and get it ready to roll. Wind was fairly calm and we landed about 5 miles from where we started (Eloy airport). Had to get up at 0430 to get out there to go. Got some pictures but there was a lot of smog in the air. One guy rode up to 5,000' and jumped out of the basket (he had a chute on). Was kind of cool watching him go down and the parachute deploying. Ordered Debi's headstone for the grave, not a pleasant task. Life goes on around here.
2nd annual "be stupid and jump out of an airplane day". That's set for Monday morning at 11:00. My old friend and fellow cop, Win Farnsworth is going to make his first jump. I had the photo thing last year, this year I'm just going to jump and enjoy it. Weather has been spectacular here the last few days, got just enough rain to make the desert flowers begin to pop out. A day of bookwork and boring filing stuff in store for me today.
My sister brought some old photos that I haven't seen since I was a kid. This is when I was about 12 years old getting ready to do a day of "cowboying".
Took sister Rita to the Arizona opry last evening, she really enjoyed it. I've been there about 7 or 8 times the past 4 years....it's that good. Hit 77 degrees here yesterday, it's almost A/C weather and have the furnace on this morning....That's az for you. Off to more adventures today.
My sister Rita showed up for a visit. Good to see family again. Rita lives in Shreveport La. and has worked in the medical field for many many many years. She still works. Met with some of our cousins from Colorado and Nebraska today and had a mini family reunion. Under that center Palm leaf lies the Superstition mountains.
I think that's big sheep mountain looming up above lower Green River lake. Took this pic from the road in the campground. Anyhow, for my out of town friends, it's aboout 50 miles north of Pinedale Wyoming. For Arizona it was a bit cool today, mid 60's, didn't bother me much but lots of people had coats on. Drove to the airport to make sure I know my way around there for Monday when I pick my sister up for a brief stay.
