Looking for "dino" tracks

Bob Sutherland looking for tracks out south of St. George last week. Debi and Tib are in the background checking too.

Mother nature is letting me know what I missed during the winter here in Pinedale. I knew there was a reason I go south! Next year 3-4 weeks later!!

Made it home ok

Exactly 9 hours from Hurricane Utah to Pinedale today. Dry roads and not many idiot drivers. My sister Rita is here helping (doing most of the work) cleaning out my mom's apartment. Looks like mom will be in the medical wing for the duration...Rita goes back to Shreveport La. Tuesday and Debi and I will begin the paperwork for mom's care...Our daughter in law Myndi cooked up some really good turkey chili for dinner. Wish I could cook like her (and her husband)

fort Pearce

What's left of Fort Pearce about 10 miles south of Saint George Utah. An old fort that stood guard over some lush grassy areas and water. Seems the white men and the indians both liked this area so the white guys built a fort to protect it. That's a very simple version of what happened Google Ft. Pearce and it will tell you the history of what happened.

Still prepping the 5th wheel for travel to Pinedale. I had some lug nuts on the wheels that were not as tight as they should have been. I've got to do a better job of checking stuff like that.

On a sad note, the manager of our RV park in Apache junction was killed in a motorcycle crash near Biloxi Mississippi recently. She was a really good person. Her boyfriend was (is) from Cheyenne and was also hurt really bad in the crash. He's still alive though.

Dinosour tracks

Went with Sutherlands south and west of Hurricane Utah today to see some dinosour tracks. The one shown is about 4 inches long. What ever kind of a critter it was it had 2 legs. There were several tracks in the area including some really big ones. Felt kind of haunting standing where dinosours stood. Apparently this was a muddy lake bed and something made the tracks harden. There has been someone out there trying to remove some of the tracks. That would be highly illegal. Some of our other friends called the BLM to let them know someone was messin with the tracks.

The three bears

I think I posted this during the winter. Picture of the "three bears" east of Apache junction Arizona. The "three bears" will start to heat up soon. You couldn't pay me enough to spend the summer down in that heat.

Going through the "safety" checklist for travel to Pinedale Thursday. Oh, and the updated weather looks dry all the way for travel. That's a good thing!!

Saguaro

Saguaro Cactus on the road between Apache junction Az. and Globe Arizona. Temps will soon hit the 100's there. I won't have that problem in less than a week. For our "returning" enjoyment the weather man predicts 40% chance of snow showers Thursday. I still love Wyoming as my favorite state though.

Fremont lake campground north of Pinedale

Just before we left for the winter had to get one last picture of the fall colors in the Fremont lake campground. Won't be long and they'll be "greening" up. Attended defensive driving today to get some Wyoming Peace officers hours to keep my certification. Now I have to find another 12 hours of training before June 30th. Beautiful day here in St. George Utah today, hit 80 about an hour ago. That will all change a week from tomorrow. I'm be whining like a siren because I'm cold in Wyoming!!

Cliffs and canyons

This is a big gorge north and east of Hurricane Utah. Rugged country!

Beautiful day here today, supposed to hit 83. I only have 9 more days to enjoy the warmth.....then the dreaded Pinedale spring!!

Comet taken from one of NASA's cameras. I could spend hours looking at these kinds of photos.

Early morning in Arizona RV park

Took this picture of our RV park about a month ago. Our friends the Farnsworths are still there but they said that most everyone else has cleared out and gone to northern homes.

Debi and I are preparing to leave here Thurs. 28th to go to Pinedale for the summer, I hate to go up that early but have to get some stuff done for my mom. I'm darned sure going to get the furnace cleaned and serviced in the 5th wheel.

Our house we made an offer on down here came back with an unreasonably high counter offer so we're going to back off for now. We may look again this fall, there's no hurry, we have a home, on wheels.

The carnival

Went with Sutherlands and Bob Sutherlands' sister and husband (foreground). It was a small carnival but had some pretty "gnarly" rides.

Hurricane sunset

They certainly have some pretty sunsets down here. Debi and I have been looking at houses and made an offer on one. We're going to make an offer on another one tomorrow if the first one falls through. Might as well invest in Real estate when it hits the bottom as have it sit in an account and draw 1.5% . We'll live in the trailer in Pinedale during the summer when I work and back here for the winters. Maybe we'll actually spend a Christmas with family this winter???

Cirque of the towers area

Can't remember if I posted this pic or not. Took it many years ago in southeast Sublette County (25 miles southeast of Pinedale Wy)

Warming up again in southern Utah. Supposed to be in the mid 80's by the weekend.

Hole in the clouds

Saw this interesting sight traveling through Provo Uthah on the way to Pinedale last week. A hole in the clouds reveals the high peaks east of there. Had a good visit with friends and family in Pinedale. Getting my mom adjusted to life in the medical wing of the retirement home. Roads were interesting traveling back to Hurricane yesterday, icy roads, wet roads, snow flurries, and trucks spraying road muck on my truck. Truck got a good bath last evening

Elbow lake

Elbow lake up near Fremont peak. Took this years ago from an airplane on one of the many searches in that area. Looks like some wind pushing the water around this day.

Off to Pinedale Wed. for a short visit with my mom and other family members. I'm told the snow is settling fast. I hope so.

Sand hollow reservoir

Fished for bass on Sand hollow reservoir today (near Hurricane Utah), Went with Henry Schmidt. No fish but a fun day in the boat.

Hunkering down for a storm tonight and tomorrow.

First light

First light of day hits a treetop on the ridge above Fremont lake. Took this last summer. Been hot here in Hurricane Utah, that will change tomorrow with wind, rain and cooler weather coming in. Should be really cool in Pinedale when we arrive Wed. for a short visit.
