Interesting "wind" swirls

Kind of interesting wind patterns on Fremont lake a couple days ago. Went fishing with my cousin yesterday and his friend caught a really nice German Brown trout. Threw a couple small Macinaw back. Weather couldn't have been better, The deer flies were super thick, we must have killed a hundred of those little blood suckers.

Got my "small pontoon" boat in the mail, getting the hardware installed and waiting for the gas motor to arrive. I'll get some pics in the next few days. Back to work today. Taking Sunday off to take my daughter Shelly and her fiancee to Wolf lake.

Lander Peak

Nice clear day to view Lander peak. It's the "pointy" one on the right. I know the locals know this but the out of towners don't....

Fish feeding frenzy

I was across from the elk feedground (near Green river lakes) today, I could see the water churning... ran down and got a video clip of a bunch of fish going crazy feeding in the Green River. I've seen fish jump before but they were just boiling the water there. The video doesn't do justice to the event but you can kinda see it... Now it tells me that the video didn't load and to try later????? I'll try loading it again...Maybe it works on your computer??

George Pape place

Was up to Willow creek Guard station a couple days ago, that road in from New Fork lake to that area leaves a lot to be desired. Willow creek flows through this area. I took the pic through the elk fence, the place is all locked up, I'm not into trespassing. Hadn't been up that way in a couple of years. My running mate Mike Mahar and I used to go up there and fish (and drink beer). Mike would actually fish, my job was to drink beer.

Silver lake area

From a trek last year into the Silver lake area. I'm not sure what that knobby peak is, the one to the right is Mt. Geicke. With work and bum knee I'm not doing a big hike this summer. May hike into photographer's point on days off and get some pics. That's about an 8 mile round trip or maybe a bit more...

Spent the last couple days helping out on the search for Bodie Moody (see story on www.pinedaleonline.com), lots of searchers but no luck yet. Can't say enough good things about volunteers that leave their businesses and families to go look for lost souls. These are the heros that go unseen and unsung!!

Calm waters

A boat makes the usuall V formation that boats make on calm water. This was Halfmoon lake this morning. Nice day up in the high country if you like horseflies and mosquitos.

hungry osprey

This guy was watching Half moon lake carefully today, I would imagine he was about to have breakfast. Hope he leaves a few fish for the rest of us.

Wolf Lake

Rode my 4 wheeler in to Wolf lake today, caught some nice brook trout. The bugs were kinda bad but the cool wind kept them down. Back to work tomorrow....

Lander Cutoff trail

I posted this on my facebook page so ignore it if you've seen it before. I should have showed the "crossing" it's just to the right of the picture, really not much of a crossing but obviously enough to roll the wagon and kill the little girl. There's pioneer graves scattered all around this area. Pic is about 20 miles west of Big Piney Wyoming in Snyder basin...

Middle Piney creek area

Boy the wind was blowing hard in the Middle Piney area (25 miles west of Big Piney Wy) day before yesterday. We've had lots of wind this summer for some reason, I believe more than usual. Got my boat sold and ordered a mini pontoon boat with a 3 hp Suzuki gas motor. It's kind of a cool little boat and really good for fishing, that Suzuki motor will power it along at 10 mph or so. When it arrives and I get it assembled (carry it in your trunk and assemble it in 5 minutes supposedly) I'll post some pics. Also will post pics of the big fish I catch out of it....ummmm hummmmm..

"The Winds"

Wind river range from North Cottonwood area. Often wonder what it looked like in the late 1800's when the indians and trappers claimed this land. Probably about the same without roads and political strife..

There's that old trapper cabin near Silver lake again, Raid peak looming in the background! Other than the shadows on the hills in the background it's kind of a pretty pic...

Example of a "not so good" picture

I didn't realize how bad this pic was till I saw it on the computer screen, the tree on the left is hiding Mt. Osborne... Not sure how that clutter in the foreground got there, I'll use some phony excuse like the sun was glistening off the lake or something...

Big Sandy

Still snow on the high peaks around Big Sandy in southern Sublette county. Took this one yesterday west of the "openings".

The Big Piney chuck wagon free bar-b-q was really really good this year. They got the beef done almost perfectly.

Sjkopke Macadonia

I visit the face book version of the weather channel online, some lady there is from Macadonia and talked about this mountain just north of the city. Doubt that I'll ever go there but it's kind of a pretty pic.

Working the weekend, lots of campers out moving around. Be more out tomorrow and the next day. That wind we're having is really drying things out, hopefully we won't have a dry lightning storm....

So Long

With my job etc. can't find enough time to get out and use my boat, weather hasn't helped much either. Got it on the lot between Sinclair and Conoco with a For Sale sign on it. It's a pretty danred good ole boat, someone will get some use out of it..

I've had a tough time getting this to post today, hopefully this one will take!!
