The neighborhood

Part of our neighborhood at Willowind RV park Hurricane Ut. Got to go to Radio shack today to get an antenna for the cell phone and Verizon card. When we get to Big River Cal. next week the cell phone and internet reception are a bit hazy. The new antenna (or booster) should fix that. Most places I have broadband service on the Verizon card but Big River Cal. doesn't have that service so the internet will be slowwwwwww. Oh well, I'm retired, I have time to wait for the pics to post. The RV park in Big River may have wireless internet so It may not be a problem after all. I'll know when I get there I guess.

Looks like Pinedale and vicinity is going to get a storm this weekend, here it's supposed to drop from the 80's to the 70's with 30% chance of precip. That means 70% chance it will be dry.

Jan. 08, Port Aransas Texas

Woah, fishing was pretty good this day. One of those 12 hour trips out into the Gulf of Mexico. The fish are mostly King Mackerals. Really good eating fish. Costs about $85.00 to go out for the day. With diesel prices high, they added a "surcharge" for fuel some of the times. This was early January 2008 near Port Aransas Texas.

Oil tanker coming out of the gulf of Mexico with a load of oil. We spent last winter near Corpus Christi and Port Aransas Tx. Lots of these big things hauling oil.

Celebrated my 62nd year of life today, went to a nice BBQ joint in St. George Utah with our friends Bob and Tib Sutherland

Went to Costco to get Debi help with her hearing

Debi had some awful disease when she was a kid and it wiped her hearing out (ear drums). Went to Costco to try to get an aid to help on one side. The guy said that he couldn't help her as he couldn't see her ear drums. Sooooo he gave us a phone number for a Dr. of.... (so many syllables that I can't pronounce it) She called the Dr.'s office and couldn't get in till mid November. We'll be in Apache junction Az. by then so will try to find a Dr. down there with as many syllables in his title.

Great day here, 82 degrees f. Got the air conditioner on in our humble abode.

My mom and sister

A pic of my mom and sister a few years back. My mom still lives in her apartment at the Senior center, she's 102 and will be 103 in March. Sister Rita lives in Shreveport La.

Cool "office"

Yep, even RV's have "office's" (sp). Brought along a cool office chair, plenty of room for printer etc. I have a Verizon card and get pretty fast internet speeds in most places. This particular RV park has free wireless internet and we use that quite a bit. The only place I got poor reception was in Big River California, this year I'm getting a "booster" and that should help the cell phone reception as well as the internet reception.

Top Picture is where O.J. Simpson got into all his recent trouble in Vegas. Middle pic is Pahrump Nv., Terrible's RV park, not sure what that means. Bottom pic is Bob Sutherland in the gulf of Mexico on a fishing trip. Bob worked for me at the Sheriff's office for many years as the jail administrator. He was as good as they come at that. He and his wife Tib travel with us a lot and they're here at Hurricane Utah now.....

More Las Vegas stuff

Sooooo, anyhow (that's how all Las Vegas stories start off). We were minding our own business when one of those high pressure "time share" folks nailed us. These things are kind of fun and it's fun to try to get in their heads. We haggled, negotiated, pleaded, then finally told them to take a hike. Got a nice steak and crab dinner and a Tropicana baseball cap for our troubles. The lady just couldn't get her mind wrapped around pulling an RV around the country and living in RV parks when you could spend a mere $12,000. cash and get a time share condo..... "It's the economy stupid".........that's as political as I'm going to get on a public blog.

This is a pic taken before we launched in November of "06". Kind of miss the ole motor-home but really like the Montana fifth wheel with much more space.

Home from Las Vegas and Pahrump

Picture of Las Vegas at 65 miles per hour northbound on I-15. You'd think that an ex-cop would have enough sense not to take pictures while driving.

Anyhow, Vegas was fun, Saw a couple of shows and drove to Pahrump Nev. That's a nice little town. Back to Hurricane Ut. P.M. Be here for just over 2 more weeks, then on to Parker Az for a week.

Off to Vegas tomorrow

Laundry day

Time to do some laundry. We really miss having our own washer and dryer. It is a beautiful day outside. Did not do much but the laundry and football.

The art and music fair that wasn't

Went downtown St. George with Bob and Tib Sutherland to find the arts and music fair. Was advertised in the newspaper but we couldn't find it.

Leaky water softner

Arggghhhhh.... If you've spent any time in an RV you'll know that you'll have leaks. This one will take no less than two trips to the hardware store to get parts to fix it.

BBQ at Henry and Linda Schmidt's

Went to Henry and Linda Schmid't last evening for a BBQ Bob and Tib Sutherland went with us. Bob worked for me when I was sheriff as the jail administrator. We travel together a lot during the winter months. While Pinedale was wallowing in snow, we were cool but not cold. This is an old picture of the cabin at Cottonwood lake.

No Elk!

No elk today. Talked to another fellow in our area and he saw 7 head. Oh well, there's always next year. this isn't a great picture but it's a nice 6 point bull that my cop friend from California got Sunday. He was a pretty happy camper

Last minute stuff and one more elk hunt

Dentist today, one last elk hunt tomorrow. Getting the 5er ready to roll Thursday. This was our first year out (2005), Kerrville Texas... We had a Dutch Star motorhome then....

Key West Florida

At the southernmost point in the U.S. on Key West, Fla. We stayed at a dive motel the night before and I was glad I carried my pistol with me.

Almost ready to roll south

Thursday morning is launch day. 40% chance of showers....of course that means 60% chance that it won't. Can't get into our RV park in Hurricane Utah till Friday so we'll overnight it near Provo. Those 500 mile days are killer anyhow towing a 36' fifth wheel.
