Nascar coming to Phoenix soon, one of the folks here at the RV park is hooking us up with some really good tickets. Was going to Las Vegas NASCAR with Henry Schmidt but the house sold and I ended up in Arizona. Had a great day with my sister and cousins and some friends from the RV park in downtown Phoenix. Place called the old Spaghetti factory, top notch spaghetti, lasagna etc.

Took sister Rita to the Arizona opry last evening, she really enjoyed it. I've been there about 7 or 8 times the past 4 years....it's that good. Hit 77 degrees here yesterday, it's almost A/C weather and have the furnace on this morning....That's az for you. Off to more adventures today.

My sister Rita showed up for a visit. Good to see family again. Rita lives in Shreveport La. and has worked in the medical field for many many many years. She still works. Met with some of our cousins from Colorado and Nebraska today and had a mini family reunion. Under that center Palm leaf lies the Superstition mountains.

I think that's big sheep mountain looming up above lower Green River lake. Took this pic from the road in the campground. Anyhow, for my out of town friends, it's aboout 50 miles north of Pinedale Wyoming. For Arizona it was a bit cool today, mid 60's, didn't bother me much but lots of people had coats on. Drove to the airport to make sure I know my way around there for Monday when I pick my sister up for a brief stay.

The graphics guys finished the decals right on time. Picture doesn't do much justice to such matters but they did a fantastic job on it. Where those pictures were before was a glob of sticky material and cracked and worn decals. They use a different material on these and seal them somehow. They warranty them for 7 years...

I signed up to jump again this year. Such a jolt flying out of that airplane door. When I was in the army I almost (emphasis on almost) went to Jump school at Ft. Benning Ga. Glad I didn't, airborne rangers had a high mortality rate during the vietnam conflict.

Los Algodones Mexico

Was a bit of a culture shock to spend the day in Los Algodones Mexico, streets are lined with dentist offices and optical places. Dental crowns are $150.00 each, you can get your eyes tested and great pair of glasses for $129. Food was good, I'll probably know more about that in the morning. Was kind of a fun bus trip down (cross south of Yuma Az). 4 hours down on the bus, 5 hours on the ground and 4 hours back. I'm tired....

Crumbling decals

Sunday when I fly to Wyoming for the murder trial I leave my trailer at a local decal place and get new decals put on. This year of Montana trailers (2007) are infamous for "ugly" decals, they curl up and literally fall off leaving a sticky residue. Of course the warranty expired nearly 2 years ago so the company just lets YOU pay for it. I'll post an after picture late next week after I get it out of the shop and get back from balmy Lander Wyoming.

Wintertime and the rv park gets more and more crowded. This year, unlike last year though, there are about 20 sites that are not taken. Uncertain economy and diesel prices undoubtedly have an affect on it.

Raining slightly here in Apache junction today, will be short lived though, supposed to be sunny and warming up soon. We're off to a local Chinese buffet to gourge ourselves again, they have big crab legs on Sundays. I need another buffet like a fox needs a dog whistle...

Took this picture a couple days ago in Mesa near the putt putt golf place. There's little tubes with spikes on them and I hope they're oil cooling units and not shotguns. The front fender has spikes on top of it also. I'm just afrade that the owner may have some anger issues????

It will probably never be said that putt putt golf is a contact sport. We played at a nice park in Mesa Az. today, I shot a terrible game. That's Win and Bebe Farnsworth on the left , my Canadian friends in the middle and my partner Phil ( Who was an army drill sergeant at one time). Had a great time, pretty cheap entertainment for $3.68 each for 18 holes

Went to a place where they sold all kinds of this type of art. The owner says they sell lots of this stuff to people. That thing in the middle is an old motorcycle with St. Nick aboard.

Biosphere

Went to the biosphere today near Tucson. It was in the news in the 80's and 90's when some people went inside and lived for 3 years. They were sealed in and had to grow their own food etc. Was kind of interesting. Came back through Globe Arizona and saw some new country. Was fun.. Win and Bebe Farnsworth went with and others from our RV park.

Pictured is part of the Biosphere experiement buildings. Officially it's called Biosphere 2, they said that Biosphere 1 is the earth that surrounds us.

New coach

My old friend Win Farnsworth and his wife got a new coach a while back. It's sooooo nice. These new ones do everything but blow your nose for you. I think it's 45' long and has a 500 cubic inch Cummins diesel engine. They're right across the street from my winter spot. I had to borrow his vehicle yesterday to go to the dentist. The window repairman was working on mine.

Off to do a bunch of errands today. I signed up for the trip to Mexico, it's a day trip and leaves the RV park on Jan. 19th very early. I'll break that new passport in. We travel to Algadones which is a very safe tourist place just south of Yuma Az.

No more 55" tv

Sadly when I sold the house the 55" HD tv went with it. The one in my trailer is about 1/4 that size but it's nice. I do get HD but through the antenna. The local Phoenix stations are crystal clear and in HD. I have Directv for regular stuff but don't have an HD antenna on the trailer. Poor me

Another photo of miners needle stuck between those two saguaro's. On my final push into Apache junction today . To say I'm happy to be here would be an understatement. I'm at a nice little RV park east of Kingman this morning. Should be in Wickenburg by 9:30 and in A.J. by noon or so. The traffic is what it is. If it's flowing good I'll make good time, if it's slow and go then I'll be a lot safer as the "crazies" can't go as fast.

Getting the trailer ready for the road tomorrow. I have a checklist that I go by, don't want to forget something, besides, I'm anal about planning. Will have dinner tonight with the Sutherlands and Schmidts, I'll miss those guys but will see them again in the spring.

Got the door of the trailer open today, no wind and nearly 60 degrees. First time I've been able to do that in a while.

Had a good safe flight from Rock Springs to St. George via Salt lake city. Windy as heck in Rock springs but it's always windy in Rock Springs. Gina Pape was kind enough to feed son Tim, daughter in law Myndi and me last night. We had a good visit afterwards. Sure was good to be home for Christmas for the first time in 7 years. Getting stuff ready to leave Friday morning for Arizona. I'm ready!!!!!!

Safe trip to Pinedale

Had a good safe trip to Pinedale, arrived yesterday morning. Spent the night in Provo and left super early. So good to see friends and family. I stopped in and visited with Bob and Gina this morning and bummed a cup of coffee off of them. The picture is of some Mayan ruins or something in south America. One of my RV friends had visited this place a couple of years ago. I have no idea how I found this picture in the archives??

Can't remember if I posted this picture of an old twisted tree before? Anyhow you pass it as you go to Wolf lake up thru Bousman's property. It sits out on a hillside exposed to the elements and lightning strikes.

Getting packed up to head for Pinedle day after tomorrow. will be good to see friends and family again. I checked the temperature at 7:00 this morning. It was the same temperature in Pinedale as it was in Hurricane Utah. I'm ready to go farther south.....and will in 9 days!!

Apache junction Az

Superstition mountains looming in the distance from business area of Apache junction. Nice place to spend the winter. Got the oil changed on the Dodge truck today and a new ($110.00) fuel filter, I bout choked when I saw that. They make them now that if you use after market fuel filters you have to buy a $315.00 adapter kit. So I went with the Dodge brand. I'm going to have to figure out a plan "B".

I just checked my records and saw that my MORTGAGE is fully paid off from the sale. What a relief. Do the words "divine intervention" stick out like a sore thumb??

Being back in the trailer is such a relief that words can't express.....A few lingering memories from travels past but life goes forward, not backward!!

Picture of Fremont Peak taken from the plane on one of the many searches I was on in that area. Almost all of the aerial photos are taken from Jim Mclellan's plane. A few were taken from a helpcopter. I can't even begin to count the number of times I've flown with Jim in the Sublette county area. I would guess between 50 and 100 times? Maybe more.

Almost looks like Boulder lake (12 miles south-east of Pinedale Wy) at the top left of the picture. For some reason I didn't note the date or time or location.

Real estate lady called this morning, we close on the house Thursday afternoon at 2:30. I almost have the trailer loaded and ready to move to the RV park. If all works out I'll spend Thursday night in the trailer at Willow Wind Rv park here in Hurricane Ut. The nights are getting colder down here, I'm anxious to get to Arizona later this month.

Clicked the shutter on this little guy last summer up horse creek. I'm cautiously optomistic as I have an offer on the house and we close next Thursday. I'm loading the trailer and getting it ready to live in again. I'm already making arrangements to go to Arizona after I get back to Utah after Christmas (from Wyo). I got a good spot reserved in the same RV park we were in last year. It's just a few miles from the RV park that Lary and Sharon Lozier are in. I'll see them right after I get down there on or about Dec. 31st.

My sister Rita is going to come stay with me for a while in Arizona, anxious to show her the sights there.

Took this last summer in the Big sandy openings area. Got most of my insurance and hospital claims stuff straightened out this morning. That is a load of stress off of my mind. got the house listed for sale this morning, the real estate lady is optomistic that it will sell fairly quickly (in this market who knows), South west Utah housing isn't depressed like it is in the bigger areas. I know it won't sell overnight but I feel that it will in the next few months. Life goes on!!

I'm knee deep in dealing with multiple insurance claims from several different sources, yikes, I'm getting an education on how to talk to insurance companies and billing people. I wasn't this stressed out when I was county sheriff... The good news is that it should come to an end in the next few months. Does everyone except me get through these things without problems?????

For those who don't know, we're having a memorial service for Debi on Saturday Nov. 5th at 10:30 a.m. in the Lovatt room of the Pinedale Library. Interment of the cremains following the service. Kay Buston at the Stockman's restaurant has graciously prepared a meal for the atendees after the services.

In Pinedale

I'm sure most of you know by now that Debi has passed on from this life. She went peacefully yesterday morning at the Hospital in St. George Utah. I made arrangements on that end and drove to Pinedale today. I'll never be able to thank Bob and Tib Sutherland as well as Henry and Linda Schmidt for taking me under their wings yesterday to help begin the healing process. These folks are truly angels of mercy! We're planning a memorial service for possibly Saturday Nov. 5th...time and place is unsure yet...

Oh and all the people that called and sent well wishes...to many to name individually.

Debi's some better today, You don't just snap your fingers and get well, I'm guessing she'll be back on her feet and walking comfortably by late November to mid December. Still in Dixie regional hospital though, no idea how long she'll be there????

Moose Gypsum creek road washout

This happened about mid June on the Green river lakes side of Moose Gypsum creek road. Lots of snow meltoff and rain caused it I guess. I traveled over the same road in Late July and it was all fixed.

Was 90 degrees in friendly downtown St. George Utah today, we've had the A/C on most afternoons. No end in sight of the nice weather, I'm not complaining...

Debi's still in the hospital, getting more stable every day!

Just got back from the hospital visiting Debi, she's doing better, pumping lots of liquids and blood platelets in to her. That chemo she took to try to stop the auto-immune thing kind of backfired. She's getting more stable by the day though. I'm only guessing that she'll be in there for a few more days at least.

Ole "Red" did a pretty good job of getting the Montana down this year. The usual 11 miles per gallon of fuel while towing. Henry Schmidt was kind enough to back the trailer in out yard here in Hurricane. He's got a lot more experience backing long trailer than I do. he hit it right the first time!!

Fall colors are pretty this year but I noticed a few stands of aspen that were totally devoid of leaves???? This pic. was taken just after the end of the oiled road. My mom pictured here sandwiched in between two of her nieces. She passed away peacefully this morning at the Sublette Center in Pinedale Wyoming at the ripe old age of 105 1/2. I'm hoping to put together a very short memorial service Wed. morning at the retirement center (It's Saturday and I can't set it up yet), If it goes It will be 10:00 a.m. My mom was one to make things short and sweet, if you blink, you'll miss it.

We'll head out for Hurricane Utah as planned on Friday the 30th.

Sacred rim

Walked in to Sacred rim this morning, took several pictures of the fall colors but they didn't come out like the "eye" sees them. This is of course Gannet peak (the really white capped one). Always clears the mind walking in that area.

Last trip into Big Sandy

Late August last trip into Big Sandy for the year. Road's still rough but so very pretty up there. August brought lots of backpackers and hikers into that area.

Did some pre-launch stuff to the trailer today, grease the wheel bearings, air up the tires, etc.

Got 2 1/2 cords of wood to split for mother in law Saturday, using some tacticts from "Tom Sawyer" to get it done.

Top of the hill south of Wolf lake

First glimpse of Wolf lake atop a big hill south of the lake. Only went there one time this year. Not a soul around Thursday when I was up there. Normally one sees many elk tracks around the lake in September, I didn't see a track. That will change on the 20th when rifle season opens up there (special permits)

Fog near Boulder

Rode my ATV to Wolf lake today and noticed fog near Fremont butte. This picture doesn't do it much justice but you can see both Fremont butte and fog. Oh, and that's the moon center right.

Nice day to get into the mountains, no bugs and was cool enough to wear layers

Fort Apache, Florida

Jan. 2006 Wildood Florida, The motorhome on the right is ours and the one on the left is Sutherlands. We spent about 3 months there and headed back towards Arizona in February of that year. We had a ton of fun touring around Florida with Bob and Tib Sutherland. The tent looking thingie on the far left was our Florida room, we'd play cards in there and hatch our next adventures.

Not sure which lake this is. I know it's near Fremont peak and Gannet peak?? Took it several years ago on a search in that area. Might be elbow lake????

Made it home from Hurricane Utah, had a nice visit with Bob and Tib Sutherland and saw the Schmidts.

My mom broke her femur bone today, at age 105 that's serious. Will get together with the Dr.'s in Jackson and try to make her comfortable and deal with the break.

Hauled a load down to the new house. Bought some "essentials" and will furnish the rest of it later this month when we move down for the winter. 98 degrees f. here in Hurricane Utah today, be back in Pinedale Sat. where we'll have to brace for cooler temps....

Search and Rescue helicopter

RV park in Mesa Az

We're going to kind of miss our old RV park in Mesa Arizona this winter. Our time will be spent getting used to the new house. fortunately we have friends in Hurricane Utah, we'll stay plenty busy I'm sure. We're certainly planning a trip to Texas in 2012-13.

Today was my last day of work for the summer, I'm really impressed by the job Dave Lankford is doing. He just seems to be a natural leader. He's got a good department but of course someone will want to pee in his cheerios' one of these days.

I used to help my father in law hay in the summer and put many miles on this old contraption. Some kind of an old truck converted into a hay sweep. It used to catch on fire occationally and you'd have to stop and throw a blanket over it to douse the flames. O.S.H.A. would have a hemmorage if they saw something like this in action. Hey, I still have 10 fingers and 10 toes. Life is good!!

Sonoran desert

Here's everything you ever needed to know about the great "Sonoran Desert" in the Phoenix and south of there. Took this picture at the Phoenix botanical gardens before we left there in March. We officially became house owners in Hurricane Utah yesterday. Called to get the lights turned on today. Anxious to get down there and slap some paint around!!

Snyder basin

Debi traveled with me to Snyder basin yesterday, soooo pretty and green up there this year. Some of the aspens are just beginning to lose some of their green. Fall is on the way!! We close on our house tomorrow, (the one in Hurricane Utah) we'll do the closing here in Pinedale (of course for a fee). Probably take down a load of stuff just after labor day some time.

Back to work early tomorrow morning. I'm down to my last 4 weeks of my summer job. Getting ready to haul firewood and prepping for the trip south for the winter months. We're both looking forward to moving into our new house in Hurricane Utah. Not sure we'll make Arizona this winter or not???
